• CCS will offer face-to-face classes to the maximum extent possible while following the Public Health Department guidelines, CYFD rules, NMAA regulations, and by collaborating with Cannon Air Force Base leaders.

  • When parents need to pick their student up from school during the day, they must call ahead so that the student can be escorted to the vehicle without the parent needing to enter the building.  Care will be taken to verify that only approved adults are allowed to pick students up from school.

  • CCS will not use lockers this year during the pandemic.

  • Students who exhibit any COVID related symptoms must not come to school, and their absences will not be counted against them for this purpose.

  • CCS will practice COVID-safe procedures including social distancing, wearing masks, health screening, frequent handwashing, using hand-sanitizer, etc…

  • CCS will conduct additional ongoing cleaning and sanitizing in classrooms, offices, commons areas, playground, and vehicles used to transport students.

  • CCS will discourage any visitors or non-essential guests from coming on campus.

  • All parents and guests will be COVID screened prior to entry into the building, and will be required to wear a mask while in the building.

  • Parents and students will be informed by email as to who their regular teacher will be, and if their temporary (25% Plan) “educator” will be the same teacher or perhaps a substitute teacher.

  • When a sub-group of students is separated into a different room to maintain the 25% occupancy standard, then their main teacher will stream the lesson live to the students so that they see and hear the same information as the students in front of the teacher.

  • Our CCS teachers will rotate through the small groups so that ALL of our students get face-to-face help from their main teacher.

  • CCS will develop a schedule for parents and students to meet their teachers and find their classrooms during the week of August 10-15. (This opportunity will allow families to get acquainted with the educators who will start the year with their children under the 25% rule with smaller groups, as well as the full-time CCS teacher for each grade when we are allowed to relax COVID restrictions hopefully within three weeks.

  • Classes will begin according to our 20-21 School Calendar on Monday, August 17th.

  • CCS will slightly stagger student arrival times for easier COVID screening.

  • CCS will use multiple entrances in front and back of the building to expedite COVID screening.  (Expect a map later this week that illustrates our arrival and dismissal plan)

  • After having their temperature checked with touch-free thermometers to ensure that no student has a fever, students will go directly to their “classroom” space to be seated in their assigned desk.

  • Students will not be allowed to share any school supplies.

  • Students will place their books and learning materials in a plastic milk crate next to their desk, and whatever is left in the crate will be sanitized each evening.

  • Students will remain in their assigned classroom or learning space in the gym or chapel unless they get permission to go to the restroom, nurse’s office, administration office, or they are taken outside for an activity by their teacher.  Teachers, including special teachers (PE, music, computer, library), will rotate into classrooms instead of students changing classes.

  • Students in all grades must bring their own lunch with them from home.  CCS will not have food brought in from our partner restaurants at this time, but we intend to allow lunches to be purchased online later in the year.

  • Students in PK-8 who want a snack must bring it with them from home.

  • Students in 9-12 will have the opportunity to order/purchase a snack through the Eagles Nest from a small list of options each morning, and their snacks will be delivered to the room.

  • All students should bring a water bottle, sufficient to meet their needs, with them daily.  CCS will not allow students to refill their water bottles at school.

  • For the period of time that CCS is operating under the 25% rule, we will prioritize instruction in Bible and the core subjects (English, Math, Science, History).  Specials and electives will be integrated as time allows, but students may not receive instruction or grades in every subject area until COVID restrictions are less restrictive.

  • Students will be assigned regular assignments, homework, and grades in a manner that is very similar to a regular school year.

  • Secondary students are subject to regular eligibility rules as listed in the handbook.

  • If students are exhibiting any COVID related symptoms, then CCS insists that parents keep that child at home. There will not be any punishment or consequence for not attending school to safeguard others and the school from the COVID-19 virus.

  • The school day will end at 2:45 pm for PK-5 and 3:00 pm for 6-12 to facilitate a smooth departure and exit for all students and parents. (A more detailed dismissal process will be explained in the near future.)

  • CCS intends to follow our approved 20-21 School Calendar to the extent possible with the same holidays, long weekends, etc… However, some spring sports seasons may extend past our last day of school and after graduation into June, especially for the teams advancing to the playoffs.

Clovis Christian School is looking forward to a wonderful school year!  Please lift CCS up in your prayers as we step out with faith that is mightier than any fear!
